OAKLAND — A 21-year-old man was shot multiple times Friday evening in East Oakland.

He was in stable condition Saturday.

The shooting happened about 5:50 p.m. Friday in the 8400 block of Birch Street.

It was not immediately known if the man, who was wounded more than once in different parts of his body, was in a vehicle or outside when the shooting happened.

He was able to drive a few blocks on his own to the area of 84th Avenue and Olive Street where police found him.

A motive for the shooting has not yet been determined and no arrests have been made.
